November was a busy month at the Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre of Excellence (AMTCE), marked by collaboration, innovation and hands-on learning across robotics, education outreach and workforce development.

Utilising Robotics in Advanced Manufacturing Information Session

We hosted an insightful information session on Utilising Robotics in Advanced Manufacturing, welcoming colleagues from SOLAS and ETBs from across the country. The morning provided a valuable opportunity for shared discussion, knowledge exchange and reflection on the future of robotics in industry.

The QQI Level 6 micro-qualification programme is a strong opportunity for employees and employers seeking to grow their understanding of robotics, collaborative robotics and automation.

Science Week: St. John’s National School Visit

As part of Science Week, AMTCE staff, including Jean Kennedy (Head of Science), visited St. John’s National School in Drogheda to deliver a hands-on workshop introducing 2nd class pupils to advanced manufacturing technologies.
Students explored demonstrations including 3D printing and “spot the robot dog,” with strong engagement and curiosity throughout the session.

Robotic Welding Operator Graduation

We celebrated the successful graduation of our full-time Robotic Welding Operator trainees. This group demonstrated drive, determination and commitment to learning a highly sought-after skill within the manufacturing sector.

A special thank you to the local and regional companies who joined us to support the graduates and recognise the value of these competencies in industry.

We also extend our thanks to Áine Quigley and Sinéad Donegan from the Department of Social Protection for their presentation on the grant and subsidy schemes currently available to employers.
